The Festival

A festival of new creations for one destination

In 2010, Bouches-du-Rhône Tourisme decided to create the Festival Myprovence. A different kind of tourism communication focused on contemporary artistic creation. Three years down the road, this becomes a Marseille-Provence 2013 ,
Capitale Européenne de la Culture branded project.

During 4 years, the Festival team was driven by the same objectives: help people discover the Bouches-du-Rhône destination as seen through the eyes of the artists, both renowned and budding artists. Get people to discover off-the-beaten track, get people to meet and share.

Each year, after the creative competition on Internet open to all, the prize-winners and the jury member artists share an ephemeral artistic residence and produce works on the area. Exhibitions then display the fruit of this creative stimulation.
As a realization of these moments of sharing and creative stimulation, each year saw the production of exhibitions in prestigious venues (Abbey Montmajour Fondation Vasarely Musée regards de Provence) and the creation of a dedicated website. You will find here the collection of the artists vision on the Bouches-du-Rhône from 2010 to 2013, oniric, inspirational, poetic, intellectual, insolent, offset ... Another way to discover the territory Marseille-Provence.

Edition 2010

Camargue

The competition winners and the jury came together for two days of creative work in March 2010, under gentle inspirational sunshine in Camargue and the Alpilles.
Nature activities and cultural discoveries were on the agenda, with sand-yachting in Les Saintes-Maries, gliders in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, horseback riding in Le Sambuc, and a tour of Arles. There was also the opportunity for in-depth discussion and sharing during the tastings of local chefs’ specialties and the evening event at Château d’Estoublon).

Edition 2011

Provence

Competition winners and the jury came together in Aix-en-Provence in April 2011. That year, the focus was on visions of the Aix area, between the city of
Aix-en-Provence, Montagne Sainte-Victoire, Château La Coste estate and works by Nouvel, Bourgeois, Ghery, the Château de la Barben and the Fondation Vasarely… art and the Provencal lifestyle.

Edition 2012

Marseille

For this third year, the theme for the artists and competition winners was Marseille and the surrounding area, just as the big Marseille-Provence 2013 event was about to start. The result was 90 totally unique new works - photos, videos, illustrations - telling the story of the Marseille-Provence area before the new Culture Capital year got underway. From the Vieux-Port to l’Estaque, from La Ciotat to Martigues, and of course including Cassis, the Calanques and the Port Autonome.

For the 2013 edition of the festival, now a Marseille-Provence 2013 branded event, the scope naturally related to the programming of this fabulous European Capital of Culture year. The works created echo the event, sometimes in not obvious ways and underscore the highlights of the year throughout the entire year and the entire area. 45 works serve as 45 doors to go through in order to discover a place, its history, its story, its present, its past, a given event... Throughout the weeks to come, new works have been posted to enrich the site which has become the place to be.

Laureates

A true launching pad for artists MYPROVENCE FESTIVAL was above all a competition driving creation – photo, graphic creations - open to all on the web on a theme which left room fo rthe imagination (holiday memories in 2010, season-free in 2011, contrasts in 2012, crowds in 2013). The quality and the creativity shown by the young prize-winning talents totally amazed the jury .

2010 - 2011 - 2012 - 2013

Exhibitions

The Beaurepaire gallery in Paris, Montmajour Abbey, the Vasarely Foundation, the Regards de Provence museum … all prestigious venues which hosted the exhibitions displaying the personal, sometimes offbeat perspectives of the artists, both confirmed renowned artists and budding new talent … Unique creations - photos and illustrations – tell the story of this area to all the visitors who came each year.

Myprovence festival is a creation contest on the initiative of Bouches-du-Rhône Tourisme

Bouches-du-Rhône Tourisme takes action, on behalf of the Bouches-du-Rhône General Council, in favour of dynamic tourism in
